Web Hosting Articles >> Advertising Methods - Auto and Paid to SurfAdvertising Methods - Auto and Paid to SurfAuthor: BJAdded: December 2, 2005 Views: 2,470 Rating: 7/10 Auto and Paid to Surf Auto Surfs are programs that rotate member sites automatically after a specified period of time viewed by other members, usually 20 to 30 seconds. These are similar to traffic exchanges in that members receive credit for viewing the rotations. The credit earned from viewing can be used to place the member´s program(s) into the rotation. Paid to Surf programs are auto surfs that allow members to upgrade with cash to earn cash. The upgrade amount sets the base for a percentage payment provided the member views the daily minimum of sites. The daily view minimum can range from as few as 10 to as many as 100. Each program sets its own requirements and minimums. Auto Surf programs do attempt to minimize the possibility of member harvesting by planting prizes or pages within the surf requiring the member to perform some action similar to those of manual exchanges. However little or no action can be taken should members choose not to collect the prizes or perform the action. Auto Surf programs require the use of a great deal of bandwidth from advertisers because sites can be hit frequently in brief periods of time. Auto Surf programs rarely have a daily limit for the number of sites surfed per member. Depending on your host, this could be a challenge when considering Auto Surf as a means of advertising. Many Auto Surf programs allow you to set a daily amount of credit or hits to your program, which may reduce the strain on your bandwidth allotment. The increased probability your site may not be viewed by a person may minimize the value of this advertising option. Too often members of Auto Surf programs will start the program and walk away from the computer. Auto Surf is a great method to increase your programs name recognition on the web. Paid to surf programs generally require the member to perform intermittent functions to collect prizes of cash or credit. Failure to collect the prizes can result in punitive action ranging from reduced credit to suspension or termination of free accounts. Upgraded members are more difficult to discipline. All members are required to surf a minimum number of pages in order to receive their daily payment and credit. These requirements increase the probability your site will be seen. Because of the daily surf limitation, Paid to Surf programs do not require as much bandwidth as Auto Surf. Also, you set the number of views by allocating credits to your site each day. Auto and Paid to Surf programs will allow you to purchase credits to have your site placed into the rotation without surfing. This is a plus if you have a limited amount of time to spend on your advertising options. Your advertising needs may help dictate where you place your program for public view. Both of these methods are very successful at increasing name recognition. Name recognition is imperative to successful marketing. Your type of program and your advertising needs should determine the method of advertising you select. When it comes to Auto and Paid to surf programs, look them over as a free member before adding your program. Locate programs that have other advertisers similar to your type of business. No one would keep advertising if there were not some level of success in that program. Have fun surfing! Talk about this article in the webmaster forums! More Promoting and Marketing Articles |
