Web Hosting Articles >> So You Want To Make A Profitable Website? - Part 2So You Want To Make A Profitable Website? - Part 2Author: KenAdded: November 8, 2005 Views: 1,506 Rating: 9/10 So You Want To Make A Profitable Website? Part Two of Two Welcome to the second part of ‘So you want to make a profitable website?´ hopefully you have read through and implemented the features described in part one of this series, if not read part one now!. In this article we get down to the fun stuff, how you can generate income from your website. Let´s cut to the chase, here is step three: Step #3 – Google: More than just your homepage Google isn´t just a search engine (a very good one, in fact) it also offers a wide array of services. ‘So what?´ I hear you ask, well, one of these services happens to be very useful to us. Google AdSense is a great, free, reliable advert service provided by Google that, as they put it: “…is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all sizes to display relevant Google ads on their website´s content pages and earn money. Because the ads are related to what your visitors are looking for on your site…you´ll finally have a way to enhance your content pages.” That´s all quite posh really, don´t you think? Anyhow, its great for us web developers because every time a customer clicks on a Google ad from our website we get some money! If there was ever easy money – this is it! But wait, there´s more, the adverts they display are not just any old ones, they are related to the content of your website – this means visitors are more likely to click on them – which means more money for us. Sign up today, sow the seeds and reap the benefits. You will rake in the money quickly and efficiently. Now I´ve used up all my farmyard terminology that´s the signal to get on your tractor and trundle down to step number four. Step #4 – The environmentally friendly way to make money from the Amazon ‘Participation is easy and free´, darn right it is. Just sign up to Amazon Associates and you can earn up to 10% referral fees on any sale that is made through a special link that they give you for each product. This is great for Blogs and other personal sites as you can review the product on your site then provide the special link to the product. This is especially effective if you have a regular flow of visitors to your site who read and respect your content. Of course, Amazon.com and Google AdSense is only one of the many online affiliate systems. On one of my many exotic ventures into the deepest, darkest corners of the world-wide web I cam across a great list of affiliate programs – here. And so, as this guide draws to a close I only have one more step to share with you on the long stormy road, with lots of potholes to internet success (well, kind of). Step #4 (and a half) – All your base are belong to us! The internet phenomenon ‘All your base are belong to us´ shows how rapidly things can spread around the internet and then cease to exist. Still don´t see my logic? Well I´ll explain. You cannot relax on the internet – things go as quickly as they came. The internet is constantly evolving, you cannot afford to just stop after you website is generating some sort of income. You must continually update your content, try out new affiliation systems and optimize your search engine status. Otherwise your website which you worked so hard to make, well decay into nothing. The other point I wanted to make here is that there are no set rules on the internet. Following this guide will only get you so far – the rest is up to you. Just remember, when you think of that groundbreaking new idea that makes you a dot com millionaire, don´t forget the person who introduced you to the exciting world of internet income!
